The University of South Carolina Innovation Think Tank (ITT) Lab is organizing a workshop entitled “Interdisciplinary Innovations in Healthcare” which aims to develop innovative solutions for real world problems in healthcare and related sectors. Participants will be supported by various UofSC ITT Lab team members who will serve as mentors and advisors.

Who Can Participate?

The workshop is open to all university undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at any university in the US regardless of program concentration. Individuals who have graduated from any university within the preceding academic year, may also apply to the workshop.

Awards and Benefits

  • Each participant who successfully completes the 1.5-day workshop will receive a “Participation Certificate”
  • The 3 winning teams will receive the following monetary awards
    • $600 for First Place
    • $400 for Second Place
    • $200 for Third Place
  • After final presentations, some teams will be selected by anonymous voting and will be supported by the ITT Lab at UofSC to expand and further develop the concept of the project.
  • All participants who have successfully completed the workshop will be invited to submit an internship application for participation in the Innovation Think Tank Fellowships at various locations globally. Based on the availability of the positions at various ITT locations and evaluation of the expertise of the applicant, young innovator fellowship will be rewarded.

Workshop Overview

The workshop will be held at the University of South Carolina Innovation Think Tank (ITT) Lab. Participants will get 1.5 days of training prior to working on the assigned projects. The focus for projects will be developing technology and business scenarios and solutions for the healthcare systems of the future. The Event program includes training on innovation management theory and methodology.

Based on the training, students would be given a team task, and to provide out-of-the box solutions to solve one of the many demanding topics which impacts the global healthcare sector. Each team will give a poster presentation at the end of the semester and presentations will be evaluated by academic faculty, professionals and industry experts. The 3 best teams with a winning project will receive monetary awards.
