UofSC ITT Lab Innovation Think Tank Certification Program – Call for Participation

The University of South Carolina (UofSC) Innovation Think Tank (ITT) Lab is organizing a virtual Innovation Think Tank Certification Program (ITT CP) which will be held on March 8-10, 2021 with the purpose to develop innovative solutions for real world problems in healthcare and related sectors. ITT CP is an experiential learning program based on the Innovation Think Tank Approach and structure developed by Sultan Haider, Founder and Head at Siemens Healthineers Innovation Think Tank; Program Director at the UofSC ITT Lab, with unique experience of executing innovation infrastructures, ITT programs and labs at Siemens Healthineers and a number of prestigious institutions worldwide adaptable to changing business and research environments. At the program, the participants will learn co-implementation methodologies and approaches working on real-life challenges of global healthcare systems.

Who Can Apply?

The workshop is open to all university undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at any university in the U.S. and from any program of study or concentration.

Participation in the program will be based on both qualifications and the first-come-first-serve principle. So, please do not wait for the last day for registration! Your early response will help us to better plan the event and organize teams.

Awards and Benefits

– Each participant who successfully completes the 3-day program will receive a “Participation Certificate.”
– The top 3 teams from the team competition will receive the following awards:
• $750 for First Place
• $500 for Second Place
• $300 for Third Place
Award money will be split equally among winning team members.
– Selected teams will be given the opportunity to develop a real working prototype of their innovation concepts over the following six months (after the program) and the possibility to present it at the ITT Annual External Exhibition in Erlangen Germany. One of our teams won the international competition in 2019!

Event Overview

The entire program will last for 3 days. Online lectures, team breakout sessions, and feedback from team mentors will be held virtually. The focus will be on the concepts of healthcare systems of the future, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics covering recent healthcare challenges in the US and world with disease pathways and related impacts for COVID-19.

Day 1: Innovation Training

Innovation management in practice, experiential learning, team building and task assignment

Event program includes: training on innovation management theory and methodology, theory of innovation management, team building, communication techniques, project assignment and first brainstorming sessions. Based on the training, the students will be given a team task, to come up with out-of-the box solutions to solve one of the many demanding topics in the global healthcare sector.

Day 2: Ideation and Development

Teamwork, research and concept development, individual feedback sessions with UofSC ITT Lab Directors, inputs from key experts

The teams formed at the beginning of the program will work on their project proposals and solution approaches during a 2-day training.

March 10, 2021, 9.30 am-12.30 pm (EST)

Day 3: Outcome Exhibition

Review of the results, elevator pitch preparation, final presentation of the results to the competition jury and announcement of the winners

Each team will present their results on the last day and presentations will be evaluated by academicians, professionals and experts from the industry.
